This month we have fun bird-themed activities the whole family can take part in.
The best part is you can support your child’s learning and therapy goals while also having fun using our suggested games and activities!
Gross Motor Activity
Did you know that certain types of birds can fly for thousands of kilometers without stopping? Sadly, we can’t fly, but we can jump! You can jump with one foot, both feet, and even try seeing how far you can long jump coming from a running start! Use tape to mark where you land each time to see how far you can jump.
Fine Motor and Craft Activity
Trace your hand and use it as a guide to draw the feathers of a bird (e.g., peacock). You can trace one hand or make more feathers by tracing both of your hands!
Speech and Language Activity
Play a matching game by putting words or pictures at the bottom of some rubber duckies and place them on the floor or in the kitchen sink or tub (if your words or pictures are laminated). On your turn, you need to choose a pair of duckies and see if their bottoms match. But wait! You have to say the word or identify the picture out loud correctly first before you can score a point.
Book and Game of the Month
Play The Lucky Ducks by Pressman Toys
Read Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems
