Our theme this month is playing with our pets at home while also learning and working on therapy goals!

The best part is you can support your child’s learning and therapy goals while also having fun using our suggested games and activities!

Gross Motor Activity

We all know that dogs love playing catch with balls! For this game, we can use some balls and baskets or bowls and try tossing the balls into them. To make it extra challenging, you can use different-sized balls and/or baskets. This could be done inside with balls, or even outside with snowballs!

Fine Motor and Sensory Activity

Create a sensory bin and fill it with water, sand, or some dry grains and various animal figures for your little one to “rescue”. You can also do it in the tub during bath time. Explore different tools they can use to do this such as a ladle, tongs, or a net. You can even add a theme that matches your child’s interests like using Paw Patrol toys.

Craft

Make a paper bag puppet of your pet/s! Or if you don’t have any pets, make a puppet of your dream pet, this could be a dog, cat, or even a monkey! Then, put on a puppet show to work on those speech and language skills.
