This month we have fun dinosaur-themed activities the whole family can take part in.
The best part is you can support your child’s learning and therapy goals while also having fun using our suggested games and activities!
Gross Motor Activity
Dinosaur Freeze Dance—In the movie Jurassic Park, they say if you don’t move, the T-Rex won’t be able to see you. For this game, one person will be assigned as the T-Rex. The T-Rex will have their back turned against everyone and when they are not looking, everyone else dances! When the T-Rex turns around, everyone stops moving, but if the T-Rex sees you move, you’re out. The last person standing wins and escapes the T-Rex!
Fine Motor Activity
Dino Dig—Pretend ping pong balls or plastic eggs are dinosaur eggs and place them at the bottom of a bowl or bin. Then, mix in some sand or small toys (e.g. Lego) and use a spoon or shovel to dig up the dinosaur eggs!
Speech and Language Activity
Dino Scavenger Hunt—Hide dinosaurs/dinosaur pictures around the room, playground, or park. Prepare a list of target words/pictures and assign them to a type of dinosaur. Every time you find a dinosaur, check your list to see the matching word/picture and roar it out loud like a dinosaur!
